Youth Sports

The Youth Sports Program is for Elementary students attending Saginaw Public Schools. Teams are formed at the schools and coached by volunteers, usually parents. Games are played on Saturdays. Each sport has five weeks of regular season play. The Youth Sports Program is designed to present students with the opportunity to learn the fundamentals and rules of the sport, improve their skills and coordination, experience team play while encouraging school spirit and pride, and to master the basics of good sportsmanship. Each child will be asked to pay a $10 player fee.

GIRLS ON THE RUN!!!

Girls on the Run is so much fun! Girls on the Run inspires girls in 3rd – 5th grades to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running. Each session is led by trained, volunteer coaches who guide and mentor girls through the fun, uplifting curriculum. The 10-week season concludes with all participants walking or running in a celebratory, non-competitive 5k (3.1 mile) event. Absolutely no running experience is necessary!

Online registration will be open August 4th through September 5th at www.gotrsaginawbay.org or www.facebook.com/girlsontherunsaginawbay. Registration may also be completed in the Loomis Media Center during Parent Orientation Meetings on August 19th, 21st, and 25th. The registration fee is $150 and covers the cost of one child’s participation. Scholarships are available based on a sliding scale with a $5 minimum fee. No one is turned away for inability to pay the full registration fee. Registration includes 20 sessions led by trained volunteer coaches, a new pair of running shoes, healthy snacks at each lesson, lesson supplies, official GOTR t-shirt, 5k entry and finisher’s medallion. Season begins September 15th and concludes with the 5k on November 22nd. Sessions meet Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:30 to 5:00pm.
