Program Description

Students in this new, specialized HVAC program will train side-by-side with industry experts both onsite at the Saginaw Career Complex and at UA Local 85’s Training Center. As part of this unique partnership, students will be individually mentored by local apprentices while learning the mechanics, circuits, controls, and programs used in residential, commercial, and industrial applications. Students will also learn to apply mechanical code to the planning, installation, and maintenance of systems while perfecting customer service techniques. Other program opportunities include the system design of heating, air conditioning, ventilation, refrigeration systems, and more. This program will provide students with the hands-on experiences and industry-specific training needed to be successful in this high-demand, high-wage career. Students will tour hospitals, manufacturing plants, and other specialized environments, as well as residential homes, to explore a variety of HVAC systems in operation Students have the opportunity to earn professional credentials in OSHA 10 and Heating, Electrical, Alr Conditioning Technology (HEAT), as well as participate in SkillsUSA, a national student organization

Special Features

Students participate in local, state, and national HVAC competitions for SkillsUSA.
Students can earn credentials: OSHA 10 , H.E.A.T.
12th grade students will complete and present senior projects
Co-op and Paid Work Experience may be available.

College Credit

Program completers may qualify for articulated college credit from the following colleges and universities.
