Saginaw High School was first established in 1865 as East Side High School. Located at 3100 Webber Street, it is one of two high schools located in the district of Saginaw. Saginaw High School is recognized by NCA (North Central Association of Colleges and Schools) as an accredited public high school.

Mission Statement: Saginaw High School is committed to ensuring a safe and secure environment where students will become academically proficient, lifelong learners and productive citizens.

Vision Statement:

Saginaw High School envisions a school that is safe, innovative, and efficient at producing students that will become respectful citizens, who are globally competitive in the workforce and in academia.

Purpose Statement: Our purpose is to ensure that students develop the necessary academic, workforce, social, and technical skills that will allow students to be college and career ready as well as able to attain academic and personal success.

Evening with Doug Kearney

Over spring break, seniors Amari Crockett, Tia Lawrence,  Twonnisha Mathis, and India White were invited to an evening with Doug Kearney, the 2018 Roethke Poetry Prize winner, at SVSU. Students were treated to a poetry reading, question and answer session, and personally signed copy of Kearney’s book Buck Studies.

Law Day

Congratulations to Saginaw High School for winning Best Performance against Hemlock High School during Saginaw County Law Day. SHS lawyers included My’Eisha Lee, Dy'terres Lindsey, and Cameron Williams for the defense. Senethea Frazier, Deont'anay DeGroat, Dakendric Goodman, and Armonn Goods were witnesses. Additionally, Michiele Boone, Havien Gibson, Anita Johnson, and Jamontae York served as jurors. Mr. Michael Hight and the rest of the Law Day team would like to thank Saginaw based lawyers, Millicent Shek and Kelly Ellsworth, for all their help preparing for trial,

Ravieonna Brown, Beatriz Buendia, and Taraka Harris spent the morning with other SPS students participating in a poetry workshop with poets Tess Gallagher and Alice Derry at the Theodore Roethke house.

The Mighty Marchin' Trojan Band, led by band director Ms. Jeannine Coughlin, is one of the many highlights of Saginaw High School, winning many awards across the country.

The Band has been invited to the thanksgiving day parade in Miami, Florida, participated in the 2012 Sugar Bowl Halftime and most recently, traveled to Jacksonville, Florida to perform at the 2015 TaxSlayer Gator Bowl.

On January 12, 2015, the Saginaw High School Mighty Marchin' Trojan Band was honored for its achievements by Saginaw City Council.
