Animal and Agricultural Sciences

Program Description

Agriculture is the second largest industry in Michigan. Careers in agriculture are vast and go unfilled each year. A wide variety of crops, fruits, and vegetables are grown in Michigan, making it second only to California in the diversity of its agriculture. This program provides an exploration or the MANY careers in the agricultural industry. Students will learn about the business of agriculture, animal production, plant science, soil science, aquaculture, environmental science, agronomy, and more! Students will also learn about animal science and care. Earn OSHA Career Safety Certification and have the opportunity for leadership development and competition through FFA, a national organization for Agriscience students. College credit can be earned through Michigan State University.

Special Program Features

  • Students may participate in FFA, a national organization that provides opportunities to develop premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.

  • Students will be able to participate in various leadership, team-building, and skills contests.

  • 11th and 12th grade students will complete and present Capstone projects.
