Saginaw Public Schools recognizes Melba D. Baldwin in her new role as assistant principal at Saginaw Middle School.
Ms. Baldwin is a lifelong Saginaw resident and accomplished educator who began her career in 1994 as a 1st-grade teacher.
Over the decades, she has brought her talents and compassion to multiple schools across the district, including Ricker Middle, Webber Middle, Central Middle School, and Arthur Eddy Academy—where she was a key contributor to the design and implementation of the innovative MicroSociety model.
Ms. Baldwin later transitioned into school leadership, serving five impactful years as assistant principal at Saginaw High School during its final chapter and most recently at The Success Academy.
Known for her calm presence, strategic leadership, and deep understanding of students’ social-emotional needs, Ms. Baldwin has made a lasting impression on the lives of countless students, staff, and families.
Her approach is grounded in creating safe, inclusive learning environments and empowering both students and educators to thrive.
She holds a bachelor's degree from Michigan State University and a Master’s in Educational Leadership from Western Governors University.
