Students in the Engineering and Advanced Manufacturing program at the Saginaw Career Complex are gaining hands-on experience with the tools and technology shaping today’s workforce.

In a new student spotlight video, viewers get a look inside the program through the experience of one of its students, who shares how real-world projects and lab work are helping build both confidence and career direction.

The SCC program offers a broad introduction to engineering and manufacturing using state-of-the-industry equipment in an Industry 4.0 lab. Students explore areas such as robotics and automation, design, electrical systems, and manufacturing processes while developing teamwork and project management skills through hands-on learning.

Beyond the classroom, students have opportunities to compete and showcase their skills through programs like FIRST Robotics, SkillsUSA, and national engineering challenges. Many also gain valuable experience through internships, job shadowing, and partnerships with local industry leaders.

Students can earn up to four credits in Pre-Engineering and Advanced Manufacturing, with opportunities to also earn college credit through Delta College.

Programs like this are designed to give students a head start—connecting what they learn in the classroom to real-world careers in engineering, technology, and advanced manufacturing.
