Our 3rd grade students had an amazing time at Scouting America Boy Scout Day Camp with the Michigan Crossroads Council! From hands-on activities and outdoor adventures to teamwork and skill-building, the day was filled with learning, laughter, and unforgettable memories.

This week Mrs. Tiff's class explored two of the five senses — and things got pretty wild.

👃 Smell Test:
Students bravely sniffed pickle juice, vanilla, lemon, coffee grounds, and yes… canned cat food. 😹 🤮
Some had expert noses, others immediately regretted participating!

😋 Tasting Room:
Then we tried eight different foods and sorted them into sweet, salty, sour, bitter, umami, and spicy.
Lots of brave bites, funny faces, and big laughs.

This program is designed to help students strengthen academic skills and build confidence as they transition into middle school.

The program is:
✅ Mandatory for identified current 5th grade students
✅ Encouraged for all rising 6th graders

Families of identified students will receive direct district notification.

Elementary Division II student artists were proudly recognized during the 2026 SPSD Cultural Art Exhibition Awards Ceremony for their outstanding creativity, artistic skill, and celebration of Saginaw’s diverse cultures and communities through the arts.

Congratulations to the student artists from Handley Elementary, Loomis MST Academy Elementary, Jessie Rouse Elementary, Kempton Elementary, and Stone Elementary for representing their schools with creativity, pride, and imagination.
