Vera Harrison

The Saginaw Public School District Board of Education has appointed Vera Harrison to fill the vacancy created by the passing of longtime board member Mattie Thompson.

Harrison is no stranger to the board. She previously served as a trustee after being elected in 2018, bringing years of experience and a strong commitment to the district’s students and families.

Although she did not win reelection in 2024, Harrison remained active in the community and continued advocating for educational excellence.

“I’m honored to return to the board and continue working to ensure every student in Saginaw has access to quality education and opportunities for success,” Harrison said following her appointment.

Harrison will serve the remainder of Thompson’s term, helping guide the district through key initiatives focused on student achievement, community engagement, and strategic growth.
