People posing with big check

The holiday season just got a little brighter for hundreds of Saginaw families thanks to a generous donation from Kroger. Today, Kroger surprised the Saginaw School District with a $5,000 check to support the Boxes on Break (BOB) program—an initiative designed to ensure students have access to food during the upcoming winter break.

Boxes on Break, or “BOB” as program founder Clint Bryant calls it, is a community-driven effort to pack and deliver hundreds of boxes filled with shelf-stable, easy-to-prepare meals directly to families in need. Partnering with Kroger, First Student, and SEIU volunteers, Bryant and his team will assemble the boxes and then hit the streets of Saginaw on December 28 and 29 to deliver them right to students’ doors.

This year, 560 families from the Saginaw School District will benefit from the program. Each box will include food items that help bridge the gap while school is out from December 20 through January 4.

“This is about making sure no child goes hungry during the holidays,” Bryant said.

The donation from Kroger will help cover the cost of food and supplies, ensuring that every box is packed with care and delivered with love. It’s a powerful example of what happens when businesses, schools, and community members come together for a common cause.

Thank you, Kroger, for helping us make a difference this holiday season!
