Saginaw Public Schools is remembering Sherrell “PJ” Johnson, whose kindness, dedication, and warm spirit touched students, staff, and families across the district.
Johnson served the district for several years as a Media Specialist, supporting students and staff at Saginaw United High School, Jessie Loomis Elementary, and Arthur Eddy Academy. In each school she worked, Johnson became known as a welcoming and dependable presence who cared deeply about the students she served.
Beyond her work during the regular school year, Johnson also helped support district programs by serving as security and secretary during summer school, continuing her commitment to students even outside the traditional school calendar.
Students and colleagues affectionately knew her as “PJ." Her friendly personality and genuine care for others made her a beloved figure among both current and former students.
Johnson’s impact extended far beyond her job responsibilities. She was known for offering encouragement to students, helping them feel seen and supported, and building relationships that many in the community will remember for years to come.
A Memorial Service honoring her life and legacy was held Friday, March 6, bringing together members of the school community who gathered to remember her contributions and celebrate the positive influence she had on so many lives.
Saginaw Public Schools extends its deepest condolences to the family, friends, colleagues, and students who were fortunate to know her. Her presence in our schools and in the community will be greatly missed.
