SAGINAW, MI — Saginaw Public Schools and HELP Community Violence Intervention Program (HELP CVI) are pleased to announce they have been awarded approximately $2.1 million through the Michigan Department of Education’s Section 97n Community Violence Intervention grant.
The grant will support expanded after-school programming for students, including mentoring, conflict resolution, social-emotional learning, positive decision-making, and violence-prevention efforts.
“This funding is meaningful because it allows us to strengthen the support system around our students,” said Dr. Ramont Roberts, Superintendent of Saginaw Public Schools. “Through our partnership with HELP CVI, we can provide more opportunities for young people to build skills, form positive relationships, and stay focused on their goals.”
Kareem Bowen, Executive Director of HELP CVI, said the grant reflects a shared commitment to Saginaw’s youth.
“We want students to know they are seen, valued, and supported,” Bowen said. “By bringing together schools, families, mentors, and community partners, we can help young people navigate challenges and move forward with confidence.”
