🛠️🎉 Congratulations to the SCC Auto Collision program!
The Saginaw Career Complex Auto Collision program, led by instructor Mr. Conners, was selected as the winner of the Dewalt and Hubbard Supply Classroom Makeover Contest, earning $15,000 in tools and equipment for students.
The winning entry featured a student-produced video showcasing the program, its needs, and the impact the upgrades will have on students preparing for careers in the skilled trades.
The award will provide new banners, cordless and hand tools, PPE equipment, and additional resources that will be ready for students during the upcoming school year.
“This means that the students will be able to work with top-of-the-line tools and become familiar with the tools that they will be using in the field,” said SCC Principal Ben Leal.
Assistant Superintendent Dr. Mitt Foley added, “Partners like Dewalt understand the importance of CTE programs and the Saginaw Career Complex and what it is doing for kids.”

Held every Friday for 7th- and 8th-grade students, the program addresses important topics such as fatherlessness, anger management, conflict resolution, communication, and personal development. Students are also learning practical skills such as dress etiquette and even how to tie a tie.

Members of the arena football team spent time reading to students earlier in the day before returning for a school assembly where they encouraged students to work hard, stay focused on education, and believe in themselves.
The players had students fired up with the viral “6-7” gesture while sharing positive messages about leadership, discipline, and the importance of school.
During the assembly, the Arsenal also helped honor Loomis kindergartner Meciah Thomas, who earned an incredible achievement in the World Maths Day Competition:

We’re proud to recognize Saginaw United alum Michael Baldwin (Class of 2025) for continuing his success on the mat at the collegiate level.
After making history last year by bringing home Saginaw United’s first-ever state championship, Michael is now making his mark as a freshman at West Virginia University.
Competing at the U20 U.S. Open Championships in Las Vegas, Michael earned a 4th place finish in Greco-Roman (77 kg)—an impressive accomplishment on the national stage. He was also the only wrestler from his team to place during the competition.
From Saginaw United to the national level, Michael continues to represent his school and community with excellence.

We are aware of social media posts circulating regarding an individual allegedly involved in an incident at a local business who is pictured wearing what appears to be a school district facilities vest.
We have confirmed that the individual is not an employee of Saginaw Public Schools.
We are also aware of a previously reported incident involving a stolen district vest. At this time, we are cooperating with local authorities as they review the situation.

Saginaw Public Schools would like to inform our community that lighting upgrades will be taking place in several district buildings over the next few months.
As part of this work, contractors will be onsite during overnight hours, approximately 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. This week's work will begin at Stone Elementary.
Community members may notice activity, including vehicles and workers, at school properties outside of normal business hours. This work is scheduled during third shift to avoid disruption to the school day.
There is no cause for concern. All contractors are authorized and working in coordination with the district.
