Today marked the beginning of a working partnership between SASA and the Central Michigan University College of Medicine. Professors and medical students from CMU joined our science teaching staff to present a two-hour workshop on the human eye. The workshop included a dissection of a cow eye, lessons on eye pathology, hands-on exploration of lens optics, and an informative Q&A session with the med students. We are looking forward to hosting future events with the CMU team including job shadowing, panel discussions, and workshops on other organs.

This year, SASA High School English Language Arts students earned the following recognitions collectively at the 2024-2025 Scholastic Regional Writing Awards:

23 Silver Keys
44 Honorable Mentions.
In addition, our students placed in more writing categories than ever before, including Poetry, Flash Fiction, Short Story, Personal Essay/Memoir, Critical Essay, and Science Fiction/Fantasy. We are pleased that we had submissions from more student writers from outside ELA Concentration than ever before, including students from Creative Writing, World Literature, AP Language, Theatre, Appreciation of Literature, and 3D Art.
