SASA WEEK 20 GAME SCHEDULE

Happy Kwanzaa! This is a time that honors African heritage, culture, and community through its seven guiding principles, known as the Nguzo Saba:
• Umoja (Unity) – building togetherness in family, school, and community
• Kujichagulia (Self-Determination) – defining ourselves and speaking for ourselves
• Ujima (Collective Work and Responsibility) – working together to solve problems
• Ujamaa (Cooperative Economics) – supporting and uplifting one another
• Nia (Purpose) – committing to the collective good
• Kuumba (Creativity) – leaving our community more beautiful than we inherited it
• Imani (Faith) – believing in ourselves, our people, and our future
On the last day before break, SASA’s AP African American Studies students brought students together to put these principles into action, reminding us that community is built through shared effort and respect. We’re proud of our students for honoring tradition, practicing unity, and carrying these values with them beyond the classroom.

Our 2D Visual Arts classes celebrated the completion of our painting study with a winter holiday party sponsored by our amazing families and led by the National Junior Art Honor Society. Students enjoyed hot cocoa, food, art challenges, and board games, all thoughtfully paced by NJAHS leaders.
We were also surprised by a special visit from the V/K carolers, led by the Abominable Snowman, which brought extra joy and laughter to the celebration. A perfect way to wrap up learning, creativity, and connection before the break. Happy Holidays!

Here's the breakdown:
* 10 finalists from Michigan
* 4 from SASA
Next steps? Our students will submit a video, and in 2026, the "Champions" will be announced. Champions will then present their work in Washington, D.C.
