SASA students experienced a learning simulation at Delta College on February 4, in which the college had been plunged into darkness by a power outage and had to learn how to make a solar farm to restore power. Using virtual reality technology at the Space Explorers: The Infinite exhibit at the Midland Center for the Arts, students were transported to the International Space Station and beyond for an awe-inspiring experience of space exploration. They learned about the effects of microgravity on everyday tasks and the important research taking place on the ISS.
"I thought this was a very cool and immersive experience...I was surprised at how real it felt" commented senior Gabrielle Moulton.
"It was like I was standing right there with the people on the ISS" said freshman Soren Hills.
Senior Ben Branch, an experienced VR user, commented "I thought the experience overall was nice. The VR was really well thought out and intuitive."
"I thought it was really fun and definitely a new experience for me... it definitely got me more interested in space exploration," said Junior Nadia Collins.
Senior Layla Baber shared "...I touched the Orbs and it felt like I was actually in space with the astronauts, I truly appreciated every last second of this experience".
